Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick) slightly softened OR straight from fridge and microwaved for 10 seconds
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ⅓ cup dark cocoa powder I use Hershey's 100% Special Dark
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Oreo Cream Cheese Frosting

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (half stick) slightly softened OR straight from fridge and microwaved for 10 seconds
  • 2 ounces cream cheese softened (if you like a stronger cream cheese flavor, feel free to add another 2-4oz. of cream cheese!)
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 ¼ cups powdered sugar
  • 3 Oreos crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In a medium-sized bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar on medium speed for 1 minute or until combined.

  3. Mix in egg, vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt. Add cocoa powder and flour and mix until well-combined.

  4. Scoop dough into (6) 1/4 cup sized balls (we're making these big!) and place on parchment-lined, light metal baking sheet. (1/4 cup is equal to 4 tablespoons)

  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 14-16 minutes or until cookies no longer look doughy in the center (a tiny bit is fine, as they will continue to bake on the hot pan). Cool completely on the pan.

  6. Generously spread or pipe frosting on top.

To Make Frosting:

  1. Beat the butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and salt on high speed for 1-2 minutes until combined. Turn the mixer to low speed then slowly add the powdered sugar. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides.

Beat on high for 1-2 minutes until creamy and the frosting is at a good consistency to pipe. If it looks too runny, add more powdered sugar. If it looks too stiff, add a tablespoon of milk until you get to the desired consistency. Fold in the crushed Oreos.

Last Step! Please leave a review and rating letting me know how you liked this recipe! This helps my small business thrive so I can continue providing free recipes and high-quality content for you.
