Why I Love These Air Fried Oreos
- Homemade batter: These air-fried Oreos use my go-to pancake batter, just thicker, and it is MAGIC! The result is so soft and fluffy and pairs perfectly with the Oreos.
- Less mess: Achieve a similar taste to deep fried Oreos without all the mess and hassle of using hot oil and a deep fryer.
- Cost-effective: Save some major cash by making this classic fair food at home. Plus, now you can enjoy them whenever you want. Even in the middle of winter!
Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- All-purpose flour: I use good ol' all-purpose! I have not tested this recipe with gluten-free flour yet, but if you do, report back!!
- Granulated sugar: My original pancake mix was created not be overly sweet, which I think pairs perfectly with the Oreos in this recipe. I do not suggest changing the amount of sugar, as it will affect the structure and texture of the dough.
- Baking powder: Make sure to use a tablespoon (not teaspoon) and do not use baking soda! Also, use fresh baking powder (opened within the last 3 months) for optimal fluffiness!
- Milk: Use regular 1%, 2%, or whole milk. Even though these Oreos use pancake batter, you do not need to use buttermilk. The regular milk will actually result in a lighter dough which is perfect for this air fryer recipe.
- Oreos: You can use any type of Oreo cookies you want for this recipe. I used double stuffed Oreos, but you can use regular Oreos, golden Oreos, or any flavor of Oreos you prefer!

Tip: I love serving these air fryer Oreos in a cute little dollar store basket to make them look like the real deal!
Tips & Variations
- Air fryer liners: I highly recommend lining the basket of the air fryer with parchment paper or an air fryer liner for easy clean up!
- Dipping: Serve your air fried Oreos with chocolate sauce or caramel sauce for extra deliciousness!
- Type of air fryer: I used my new Toshiba air fryer to make these Oreos and I really think the circulating convection helped them get extra fluffy. However, you can use any type of air fryer. Just note that you may need more or less time depending on the size and type of air fryer you're using.
- Single layer: Depending on the size of your air fryer you might need to do these in a couple of batches to avoid overcrowding. You want there to be plenty of space for the hot air to circulate to ensure even cooking.
Storage & Freezing
These air fried Oreos tastes best fresh. I do not recommend trying to make them ahead of time (or freezing them) as they are best eaten fresh.
Frequently Asked Questions:
You do not need to preheat the air fryer for this air fried Oreo recipe.
Many at-home air fried Oreo recipes call for using crescent roll dough instead of pancake batter. I really prefer the flavor profile of the homemade pancake mix with the Oreos and I think it results in a lighter, fluffier fried cookie. I have not tried this recipe using crescent dough, but if you give it a shot be sure to report back!

Hi! Your recipe for butter says 1/4 cup, but if it it one stick, should that be 1/2 cup? Or does it require a 1/2 stick?
Melissa says
So sorry, just fixed this! It should be 1/4 cup = 1/2 stick.
