Why I Love This Homemade Frozen Pizza
- Easy dough: This pizza dough comes together in less than 30 minutes (no overnight rise!) and there's no mixer required!
- Affordable: You can make 2 pans of pizza for as little as $6 if you go with store-brand sauce & minimal toppings! More meat/toppings can add to the cost but these are easy to make on a budget if you already keep the essential ingredients on hand.
- Reheats beautifully: Any leftovers you have are perfect for reheating in the air fryer, oven, or microwave - no soggy crust here!

Tips & Tricks
- Label before freezing: Labeling the freezer-safe container you store the pizzas in will help with not only keeping track of freshness but also will save your future self from any uncertainty about baking temperature and time!
- Using fresh veggies? If you plan on using certain fresh vegetables as toppings (mushrooms, onions, etc.), I recommend pre-cooking these before popping your pizzas in the freezer. This can prevent excess moisture when reheating as well as preserve their texture.
- Don't overload with toppings: Since this is a softer crust, be careful not to overload the pizza with too many heavy toppings to avoid any sogginess or uneven cooking.

How to Make Homemade Frozen Pizzas:
Step 1: Make Dough
- Combine the dry active or instant yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons), warm water (1 cup), and granulated sugar (1 teaspoon) in a large mixing bowl. Stir, then let sit for 10 minutes, or until the mixture is creamy and has small bubbles on the top.
- To the yeast mixture, add the salt (1 teaspoon), olive oil (1 tablespoon), and all-purpose flour (2 ¼ cup). Stir until everything is incorporated and the mixture forms a ball. Place dough on a lightly floured work surface and knead for a minute or two, or until it feels smooth and elastic.
- Rub a teaspoon of olive oil all over the dough ball, then cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest in the mixing bowl for 5 minutes.
Tip: No foam or bubbles in your yeast mixture? This most likely means your yeast is dead and you should start over with a new packet of yeast for best results.
Step 2: Prepare & Bake Crust
Spray (2) 9x13 foil pans with nonstick spray and sprinkle with flour. Split the dough in two balls and press each ball into a flat crust in the pans. It's helpful to hold the center of the dough with one hand and then spin and press the dough out with the other hand.
Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Bake crusts for 5-6 minutes, or until they are very lightly brown and no longer look doughy (note that we're only baking them half-way!).
Tip: I like to use a fork to poke a bunch of tiny holes in the dough before baking - this prevents any unnecessary bubbles to form and results in a more evenly baked crust!
Step 3: Add Toppings
Allow the crusts to cool and then spread on the pizza sauce (1 cup), sprinkle on some shredded mozzarella cheese (3 cups), and then top with your favorite toppings!
Step 4: Freeze, Bake, & Enjoy!
Wrap tightly with plastic wrap & write the below instructions on each one before freezing for future reference:
"Bake at 425℉ for 8-10 minutes or until cheese is melted & browned to your liking".
Store in the freezer for 1-2 months for best freshness. When ready to eat, simply pop in the oven and you have a fresh-tasting pizza in under 15 minutes!
Pizza Topping Ideas:
- For the sauce: Use a classic store-bought or homemade pizza sauce (I love Rao's brand!), or switch things up with alfredo, barbecue sauce, or pesto!
- For the cheese: Mozzarella, an Italian blend, provolone, and parmesan are the classics! For maximum cheesiness, use a combination of these!
- For the rest: Pepperoni, crumbled sausage, bacon, roasted chicken, ham, black olives, pineapple, mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, red onions, bell peppers, roasted red peppers—the world is your oyster here!
Storage, Freezing & Reheating
- Storing: Refrigerate leftovers of the baked pizza in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
- Freezing: Store in freezer for 1-2 months for best freshness! They could last even longer if vacuum sealed or air-tight.
- Reheating: I recommend reheating them in a 425ºF oven or air fryer, which re-crisps the crust. The microwave works too, but the crust can tend to get a bit rubbery.
Frequently Asked Questions:
I highly recommend it – this will help maintain the crust's texture and prevent it from becoming too soggy during reheating.
Make sure the pizza is tightly wrapped in plastic wrap and aluminum foil or place it in an airtight container before freezing.
I just used some cheap 9x13 foil pans I found at the dollar store, but I also recommend using these light-colored aluminum pans you can find on Amazon.
