  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water 105-115 degrees
  • 2-3/4 to 3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey


  • 1-1/2 cups tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese


  1. Add yeast and warm water together and let sit for 5 minutes. Set aside.
  2. While this is proofing, combine 2 ½ cups flour and salt in a separate large bowl. Make a well in the center and pour in yeast, oil and honey. Using a wooden spoon, stir mixture until incorporated.
  3. On a floured surface, knead dough into a soft ball that is smooth and elastic. Add more flour as needed.
  4. Lightly oil the inside of a large glass bowl with 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Place dough ball in bowl and roll until all dough is lightly coated with oil.
  5. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  6. After 1 hour, punch down dough and break into 16 pieces.
  7. One at a time, roll each piece into 4-inch rounds.
  8. In a small bowl, stir together sauce, garlic powder, and oregano.
  9. Spoon on 2 tablespoons of sauce and 2 tablespoons of cheese on each 4-inch round.
  10. Fold dough over and seal with a fork. Place on baking sheet.
  11. Sprinkle each pizza pocket with bread crumbs and cover and let rise for 20 more minutes.
  12. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
