In case you weren’t aware, it’s National Waffle Day! I’m usually not one to celebrate National Food Days (because seriously, who makes these up?!), but waffle, potato, and taco days might be the only exceptions. Now that fresh strawberries are going down in price, I load up on them whenever I get the chance. And one thing that is a must when fresh strawberries are in season, are homemade waffles. And now, with this DIY Waffle Mix gift idea, you can pass on the breakfast love to someone else.

The best part about these is that are so easy to make & serve as a great last-minute gift idea. The recipe below makes 2 cups of waffle mix, so you can simply divide it in two, print off the printables, and gift away two containers of waffle mix.

Instead of a boring little ingredient list tag (which I was totally going to make at first), I decided to take it up a notch and work the ingredients right into the slab of butter. Since the dry ingredients are already in the cup, the fresh/wet ingredients are the only thing left to add after gifting. The goal is that the recipient can easily pull the cup out of the pantry, add in a few things, and the waffle batter is ready to cook.

To prepare the waffles, you will need to add & mix the following ingredients in to EACH cup: 1 egg, 1 tablespoon butter, 3/4 cup milk. (These instructions can be found on the printable recipe “butter” tags.) To cook, pour batter into heated and buttered waffle iron and cook waffles until golden brown.
