DIY Earring Holder Using A Shoelace

How many times have you gone to get ready and can’t find that one accessory you were counting on to complete your look?  For me, mornings come too early and I often find myself rushing to get out the door.  And nothing’s more stressful when you just can’t seem to find what you need.

I’ve tried many different organizational ways to keep my earrings in order in the past (plastic bead organizer boxes, those metal boards with the million different holes).  But for me, those just didn’t make the cut.  I like to have easy access to things and have them in a place where they are easy to take out and then put back in their proper spots.

I would have never thought that a look in the junk drawer would be the solution to all my problems.  A shoelace.  I simply tied a shoelace from one side of my shelf unit (from IKEA) to the other side (and back again) until it was super tight.  And BOOM, I had discovered what I had been searching for all my life (ok, slight exaggeration).

All my dangling earrings stay in their place and it makes for a beautiful display of my collection (earring addiction).  It just goes to show that you don’t have to spend money on some fancy contraption to solve those simple problems.

Have a simple solution like this one?

Did you make this?

I clicked on this post thinking: “how on Earth could a shoelace be an earring holder?!”, but now it seems so simple, yet brilliant at the same time! What a clever mind you have. I’d love to see a photo of it!

Hi Indya! I just fixed the post so the images were displaying – not sure why they weren’t showing!

Hi!! I just noticed tonight that I have a new follower: YOU! :) It totally made my night!

I just love this idea for keeping track of my ear rings! Simply brilliant! If you could see my mess of jewelry you would be telling me instantly to go find a shoe string right now! ;)

I do have to ask you, how in the world did you find my little ole’ blog? & what did you like about it?
I would just love to know. :)

Gotta run…I have to go check out your blog..and I’m your newest follower too!

This makes me want to have my ears pierced just to make this cool earing holder! I suppose this could make quite a good bracelet display as well.
    Looking forward to more posts

Oooh! A brand new blog to read! I love the name, so funny and I can definitely relate. You know though… crafting is the new “it” thing so we are now part of the cool kids. :-P

What a fantastic idea this earrings display is! This is so simple to make and makes finding earrings so easy. I have been meaning to make a jewelry display and I think I will be doing it this weekend. :-) I’ll be sure to post about it.

    Have a happy 4th!
