One of my favorite things about working with bloggers & small business owners is watching them grow their brand from the very beginning. I had the privilege of working with Niki from Glossy Blonde a year or two back on one of her first blog designs, and now again just recently on her new brand makeover. She is real, down-to-earth, and just all-around one of my favorite beauty bloggers. So, I’m sure you can imagine how much fun it was to work with her on her latest design!
The mission with this custom blog design project was to create something that gave off a clean, modern, and stylish feel, while still mixing in touches of handwritten elements. After a few back-and-forths with premade handwritten font options, I knew that whipping out the sketchbook & pen was going to be our best option. I really love the freedom & uniqueness of hand-drawn type, and this project was the perfect excuse to get off the computer & draw. After writing out “glossy” about 50 times with a good ol’ marker, I nailed one down that I loved and scanned it into the computer. After some tweaking, roughing up the edges, and recoloring, the final logo was complete.
“This is my second time working with Melissa and every time is a pleasure. She is so easy to work with – she’s smart, professional, so sweet, and always on point. She takes every little detail into consideration and really works to create the perfect design. She also has extensive coding knowledge and has been able to help with so many design questions that have just been elusive to me. I definitely plan on working with Melissa again in the future!” – Niki at Glossy Blonde
