I’m keeping today’s post relatively short and sweet because I have quite a bit of housework to do before my sister comes to visit today. I roped her into coming to stay with me for a few days to help hand model for a few upcoming ice cream photoshoots, and considering she already calls my prop stash a hoarding ground (said with love, of course), I should probably get to tidying things up a bit around here.
I haven’t had much luck with watermelons lately, but finally managed to snag one up that gave me hope that true watermelon season is about here. The past 3 I’ve gotten have had a unsweet, mushy texture to them and considering it takes all my strength to lug them up multiple flights of stairs, I am now a little more apprehensive to picking up the first one I see at the store. So I guess what I’m saying is to wait until you get a dang good watermelon to make these raspberry watermelon slushies. The natural sweetness of the watermelon combined with the sweentess of the raspberries and sour lime will create a light refreshing drink to keep you company poolside.
The texture of these is a lot like a daquiri, only far less sweet and sugary than one. If you like them thicker, feel free to add more ice. These would also be fun to to try with frozen strawberries in place of the raspberries or lemon instead of lime. Serve them alongside some of your favorite treats (these pouches coming soon!) and you have yourself watermelon mania.
|Raspberry Watermelon Slushie|| |
- 1 cup seedless watermelon, cubed
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ cup ice
- ½ cup frozen raspberries
- ½ cup lemon lime soda (I used Diet Sierra Mist)
- In a blender (I use my NutriBullet), blend together all ingredients until smooth. Depending on the sweetness of the watermelon, you may need to add a tad bit more sugar until sweetness it at your desired taste.
- Pour in chilled glass cup or bottle and serve immediately
On another note, any of you use Snapchat? I’ve had a personal one for a while, but finally got one for behind the scenes peeks of the blog. The username is designeatrepeat, so hit me up and let’s be friends!
